Dr. Abu Holi Announces the Launch of the Digital Campaign to Support and Advocate for UNRWA and Confront the Israeli Campaign that Aims to Distort Its Image to Prevent Its Funding

Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and Head of the Department of Refugee Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Abu Holi, announced the launch of the digital campaign to support and advocate for UNRWA on social media platforms under the slogan "Stop the Israeli war on UNRWA", "UNRWA is an international organization, not a terrorist organization".

Dr. Abu Holi explained that the campaign aims to confront the Israeli campaign that aims to distort the image of UNRWA to prevent its funding.

Dr. Abu Holi: "UNRWA is subjected to political and military attacks by the Israeli occupation authorities, the latest of which was the publication of funded provocative advertisements on the main streets of some European countries and American cities and on social media platforms against UNRWA with the aim of demonizing it, distorting its image, and influencing donors not to fund it in an attempt to dismantle it and end its work as an entry point to liquidate the Palestinian refugee issue and strip Palestinian refugees of their refugee status."

He added: "Israel has passed laws prohibiting UNRWA activities in the occupied city of Jerusalem, cutting off communications, canceling bilateral agreements between them signed in 1967, canceling privileges, and lifting diplomatic immunity from its employees and facilities in a process of gradually undermining its mandate within the framework of a plan to close its headquarters in the occupied Palestinian territories, so that its attack on UNRWA extends through advertisements directed to the peoples of the European and American continents to tell them that your tax money goes to UNRWA, which supports terrorism, to dry up its resources and end its role in its areas of operation in the countries hosting refugees."

Dr. Abu Holi said that the digital campaign aims to confront the Israeli attacks targeting UNRWA by spreading lies and false accusations that have been proven false by international and independent investigation committees.

He pointed out that the digital campaign to support UNRWA will highlight the life-saving educational, health and relief services provided by UNRWA to millions of Palestinian refugees, and UNRWA's pivotal role in enhancing the security and stability of the region, and in promoting sustainable human development, noting that the campaign will include more than 70 posts in Arabic and English that will be published and circulated on social media platforms and through the embassies of the State of Palestine for 7 consecutive days to support UNRWA and confront the smear campaign led by the Israeli occupation government against UNRWA.

Dr. Abu Holi stressed that the digital campaign is part of the Palestine Liberation Organization's action plan adopted by President Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine, to support UNRWA's mandate and confront Israeli legislation and political and media attacks targeting it.
