Today, Sunday, at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah, the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, received the annual statistical report of Palestine for the year 2024, during his reception of the head of the Central Bureau of Statistics, Ola Awad.
Awad briefed His Excellency on the most prominent results included in the annual statistical report, as the number of the Palestinian people reached about 15 million Palestinians, of whom 5.5 million Palestinians currently live in the State of Palestine until the end of 2024.
The head of the Central Bureau of Statistics also informed His Excellency on the mechanism adopted by the Palestinian Statistics to work in the Gaza Strip in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression, which, according to the report's indicators, led to a 6% decrease in the population of the Gaza Strip by the end of 2024, and the death of more than 45,000 martyrs in Palestine since the beginning of the aggression against our people, in addition to the diligent work to provide the most important indicators related to the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
In turn, His Excellency stressed that the figures included in the report, especially the decrease in the population of the Gaza Strip by about 6% by the end of 2024 due to the brutal Israeli aggression, are terrifying figures that show the extent of the occupation's brutality and its perpetration of bloody massacres against our people, which requires urgent international intervention to implement UN Security Council Resolution No. 2735, regarding an immediate ceasefire, the complete withdrawal of the occupation forces from the Strip, and the State of Palestine assuming its full responsibilities in the Gaza Strip to alleviate the suffering of our people there. The President praised the great efforts made by the Palestinian statistics teams to provide accurate indicators, especially in the Gaza Strip, to Palestinian decision-makers to benefit from them in developing immediate and future plans to serve the Palestinian people.
