Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and Head of the Refugee Affairs Department, Dr. Ahmad Abu Holi, praised the efforts of Jenin Governorate, official institutions, and the Popular Committee for Services in Jenin Camp for alleviating the suffering of the camp’s residents, who are facing difficult humanitarian and security conditions amid the ongoing Israeli aggression since the beginning of this year.

During his participation in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa on Monday at the Jenin Governorate headquarters, which brought together the Emergency Ministerial Committee and heads of national institutions in Jenin Governorate, Dr. Abu Holi emphasized the importance of coordination and integration between the Department of Refugee Affairs, the Popular Services Committee, and the institutions and organizations in Jenin Camp. This, he said, would contribute to strengthening popular resilience against the Israeli war machine and providing the necessary humanitarian and relief support to ease their suffering. He commended the significant and vital role played by the government through its ministerial and technical committees in monitoring the field situation and responding to urgent needs.

Dr. Abu Holi stressed the importance of UNRWA and its pivotal role in finding urgent solutions in the sectors of health, education, and relief. He called for the protection of the agency and the preservation of its vital role in providing services to Palestinian refugees in its five areas of operation. He also warned against attempts to undermine its mandate under Resolution 302, especially amid the escalating Israeli attacks on Palestinian camps, which aim to dismantle their infrastructure and forcibly displace their residents.

Dr. Abu Holi also addressed the outcomes of the Cabinet session held in Jenin, where Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa affirmed that convening the session in the governorate was a clear political message rejecting all Israeli measures and attempts to displace refugees. He reiterated the government’s commitment to preparing and implementing reconstruction plans, providing medical and relief support, and completing developmental projects in the governorate, including the development of Jenin Governmental Hospital and the establishment of the Indian Specialized Hospital.

He also highlighted the Cabinet’s emphasis on the government’s commitment to intensifying social protection programs, empowering marginalized groups, and dedicating all efforts to strengthen the resilience of citizens in Jenin and Tulkarem, considering them a national model in confronting aggression.

According to Dr. Abu Holi, the participants in the meeting agreed on the importance of unifying efforts and national visions to confront current challenges, especially amid the escalation of Israeli military operations in the camps and the ongoing genocidal war in the Gaza Strip.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Emergency Ministerial Committee, along with representatives of national institutions and the camps, appealed to the international community and United Nations institutions to assume their legal and moral responsibilities and to take urgent action to pressure the occupying state to end its systematic military aggression on Palestinian camps and stop the ongoing genocide in Gaza, in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions.
