The Department of Refugee Affairs of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), under the auspices of His Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine, organized a condolence gathering for the late veteran national leader Dr. Zakaria Al-Agha (Abu Ammar), member of the Fatah Central Committee, former member of the PLO Executive Committee, and former Head of the Department of Refugee Affairs. The gathering took place at the Media Solidarity Center in Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip.

The condolence gathering was held in recognition of the late leader’s distinguished path of struggle, loyalty to his national positions, and his pioneering role in serving the causes of his people, foremost among them the cause of Palestinian refugees.

The event was attended by a large crowd of national, official, and popular figures. Among the attendees were senior leaders of the Fatah Movement in the central region, the Secretary of the Fatah Regional Committee, members of the Popular Committees for Refugees from various refugee camps across the Gaza Strip, representatives of Palestinian national factions, civil society organizations, community elders, tribal leaders, and social reform figures. All came to offer condolences and recall the virtues and patriotic legacy of the late Dr. Al-Agha.

Attendees affirmed that Dr. Zakaria Al-Agha was a prominent national symbol, whose voice resonated in all critical moments and who was a steadfast defender of refugee rights and the right of return. They praised his humility, political vision, and unwavering national commitment, even in the most difficult circumstances.

For his part, Dr. Ahmad Abu Holi, member of the PLO Executive Committee and Head of the Department of Refugee Affairs, extended his gratitude to all those who offered condolences. He emphasized that the late Dr. Al-Agha was a school of struggle, national service, and institutional leadership, and that his memory would remain alive in the hearts of the Palestinian people.

Abu Holi added that, under the guidance of President Mahmoud Abbas, the Department of Refugee Affairs would remain loyal to Dr. Al-Agha’s legacy by continuing to defend refugee issues and strengthen their resilience in the face of ongoing challenges and aggression.

Dr. Zakaria Al-Agha was among the most prominent Palestinian national leaders. He held high-ranking positions within the Fatah Movement and the PLO, leaving a lasting impact on political, diplomatic, and social work, in addition to his significant contributions in the fields of health and humanitarian efforts.
