Under the directives of His Excellency Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, under the patronage of His Excellency the Head of the Department of Refugee Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Abu Houli, and with the supervision of the Secretary of the Popular Committees in Lebanon, Dr. Sarhan Sarhan, the Popular Committee in Burj al-Shamali Camp commemorated the 77th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba in front of the Martyr Omar Abdel Karim Hall on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. The event was attended by the leadership and cadres of the Fatah movement, the leadership of the PLO factions in the Tyre region, Lebanese and Palestinian national and Islamic forces and parties, the Popular Committees, the Child Protection Network, political and dignitaries, and a large crowd of Palestinian citizens.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surat Al-Fatihah for the souls of the martyrs, followed by the playing of the Lebanese and Palestinian national anthems. Then, the Secretary of the Popular Committee in Burj al-Shamali Camp, Muhammad Rashid Abu Rashid, spoke. Ahmad Ghneim, head of the People's Party in the Tyre region, delivered a speech on behalf of the PLO factions. The speakers affirmed their commitment to the national rights of the Palestinian people, despite the passage of 77 years since the Nakba, caused by imperialism and global Zionism, which resulted in the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians.

They addressed the crimes of the Zionist occupation, particularly the genocide and ethnic cleansing in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem, emphasizing that the Zionist project seeks to establish a Jewish state on Palestinian land as part of a colonial scheme to fragment the Arab region and plunder its resources.

National constants were also emphasized, foremost among them the right of return, self-determination, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, led by the Palestine Liberation Organization.

They then affirmed their commitment to UNRWA as a living witness to the Palestinian Nakba. They also condemned the reduction of UNRWA services, calling for strengthening the steadfastness of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and for the completion of Palestinian national unity as a prerequisite for confronting the aggression and achieving national goals.

In conclusion, they saluted all those who supported the Palestinian people's struggle, emphasizing that victory will come with Palestinian unity.
