The Popular Committees Participate in the Activities Commemorating the (77) Anniversary of the Nakba
The Palestinian refugee camps in the Sidon area witnessed numerous massive popular and national activities. Representatives of the Popular Committees, headed by their official in the Sidon area, Dr. Abdul Rahman Abu Salah, had a distinguished presence. Also present were representatives of the national and Islamic forces, representatives of the General Union of Palestinian Women, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (Al-Hamshari Hospital), the Palestinian Federation of Trade Unions, community figures, popular and trade union federations, the Military Retirees Authority, the Joint Palestinian Force, Palestinian National Security, Civil Defense, a wide range of Palestinian women's cadres, and a wide range of activities from the camp's residents.
The activities in Ain al-Hilweh camp had a distinguished presence and wide participation. Civil society organizations were actively involved in the Martyr Nabila Burayr Kindergarten, the Martyr Naji al-Ali headquarters, and the PLO, the Department of Palestinian Refugee Affairs, and the Popular Committees in front of the Fatah branch headquarters. Speeches were delivered in honor of the occasion. The PLO's speech was delivered by Fatah leadership member Abu Iyad al-Shaalan, and the Central Follow-up Committee of the Popular Committees' speech was delivered by Khaled Farhat, a member of the Follow-up Committee. The Joint Palestinian Action Committee also organized a mass event at the Martyr Abu Jihad al-Wazir Stadium. Youssef al-Youssef, a member of the Central Committee of the Palestine Liberation Front and its representative in Lebanon, spoke on behalf of the organization. Ammar Houran delivered a speech on behalf of the Palestinian Alliance, while Ibrahim al-Saadi delivered a speech on behalf of the Islamic Forces. An event was also organized in the Mieh Mieh refugee camp, featuring speeches inspired by the occasion, delivered on behalf of the PLO by Musa al-Nimr, a Fatah leadership member, and Saeed Murad, a member of the committee. The event featured traditional Palestinian performances and traditional Palestinian cuisine, and slogans inspired by the occasion were raised, with Palestinian flags waving. Palestinian children, adorned in traditional dress and waving Palestinian flags, had a distinguished presence, demonstrating their commitment to historical rights and that, no matter how long it takes, Palestine will remain in our memory and conscience, despite the Israeli occupation, and will never be forgotten. Speeches were delivered in the spirit of the occasion, paying tribute to the souls of the martyrs, the wounded, the injured, the prisoners, the detainees, and our people in Gaza, the West Bank, Jerusalem, the diaspora, and all parts of the occupied homeland "Palestine." They discussed the war of extermination perpetrated by the occupation army against our Palestinian people, the liquidation projects targeting the national cause, the siege, and the displacement and resettlement projects. They affirmed adherence to Palestinian national principles, foremost among which are the right of refugees to return, freedom and independence, and the Palestine Liberation Organization as the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people. The speakers emphasized the importance and necessity of restoring national unity, in honor of the souls of the martyrs and the suffering of our people, and for the sake of our comprehensive Palestinian national project to achieve all our desired goals of defeating the occupation and establishing our independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
