Abu Holi: The Arab stance rejecting displacement has formed a solid barrier against the implementation of the Israeli-American displacement plan

Ambassador Shubaki: The legitimate rights of our Palestinian people do not expire with time; our people remain deeply rooted in their land

Minister Bouayach: The call to end war and displacement is a cornerstone of geopolitical stability and global peace

Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and Head of the Refugee Affairs Department, Dr. Ahmad Abu Holi, affirmed that Israeli displacement projects will once again be shelved due to the steadfastness and resilience of the Palestinian people on their land. He noted that the Israeli occupation seeks to resolve the conflict through military force and a campaign of genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, which has continued since October 7, 2023, leaving over 200,000 people dead or wounded, the majority being women and children.

During his speech at the political forum organized today by the Embassy of the State of Palestine and the Department of Refugee Affairs in collaboration with the Moroccan Labor Union and the National Library, as part of the 77th commemoration of the Nakba, Dr. Abu Holi stated that the united, strong, and decisive Arab position rejecting all plans and attempts to displace the Palestinian people has formed a robust barrier against the Israeli-American displacement scheme.

The forum was held under the slogan: “We Will Not Leave – Palestine Belongs to the Palestinians,” at the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco in Rabat, and was attended by a large number of ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps in Morocco, representatives of Moroccan political parties and forces, the Moroccan Press Club, and members of the Palestinian community in the Kingdom.

Dr. Abu Holi pointed out that the Israeli occupation is working to undermine the two-state solution through racist policies involving land annexation and confiscation, settlement construction, house demolitions, ongoing ethnic cleansing and forced displacement, and attempts to alter the historical and legal status of holy sites—both Islamic and Christian—particularly Al-Aqsa Mosque. He highlighted efforts to impose temporal and spatial division of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the evacuation of Palestinian residents from Jerusalem neighborhoods.

He explained that the ongoing Israeli aggression on the West Bank and occupied East Jerusalem, alongside the genocidal war in Gaza, aims to eliminate the Palestinian refugee issue and revoke the right of return. This is being done through direct targeting of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), by inciting donor countries to cut off funding and blockade the agency, and through attacks on Palestinian refugee camps in Gaza and the northern West Bank—camps that have served as a living symbol of the refugee tragedy since the Nakba in 1948—by destroying them and displacing their residents.

Dr. Abu Holi emphasized that the work of UNRWA is irreplaceable, in accordance with its mandate from the UN General Assembly under Resolution 302, as it represents a cornerstone of humanitarian work in Gaza and a lifeline for millions of Palestinian refugees in Palestine and host countries—Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon. UNRWA embodies the international responsibility toward the Palestinian refugee issue until a political solution is found in line with Resolution 194.

He called on the international community to stop the Israeli genocide in Gaza, ensure the full withdrawal of occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, open border crossings, and allow the entry of international humanitarian aid. He also called for an end to repeated Israeli attacks on towns, villages, and camps in the West Bank, and to prevent violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. Furthermore, he urged for international legal action against Israeli leaders for their crimes against the Palestinian people.

Abu Holi concluded by thanking the Kingdom of Morocco—its King, government, and people—for their unwavering support for Palestinian rights and for backing the just struggle of the Palestinian people to restore all their internationally recognized rights, including the right of return, self-determination, and the establishment of their fully sovereign, independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

For his part, Palestinian Ambassador to Morocco Jamal Al-Shubaki stated that commemorating this day reaffirms that the Nakba has been ongoing for 77 years and that the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people do not expire with time. He emphasized the resilience and deep-rootedness of the Palestinian people on their land, regardless of the severity of Israeli terror.

He praised the stance of the Kingdom of Morocco and King Mohammed VI in support of the Palestinian cause and the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, especially in Jerusalem.

In her speech, Minister Amina Bouayach, President of the National Human Rights Council of Morocco, said that the Council has, for over a year, engaged in international and regional advocacy efforts calling for a permanent ceasefire, protection of Palestinian civilians, and an end to displacement.

She emphasized that the demand for the enforcement of human rights by ending war and displacement is not only a humanitarian and legal imperative but also a pillar of geopolitical stability and peace across the globe.
