A Political‑Media Meeting at the PLO on Refugee Camps & the UNRWA Crisis

As part of its efforts to enhance the political and media presence of the refugee cause, the PLO’s Refugee Affairs Department organized a special political-media meeting in Ramallah, attended by Palestinian journalists, to discuss developments in the camps and the ramifications of targeting UNRWA.

💠 Dr. Ahmed Abu Holi:

“The destruction of camps is a direct attack on the memory of the Nakba and an attempt to legitimize forced displacement.”

“We warn against plans for forced displacement through genocide, starvation, dehydration, and death traps.”

“There is no substitute for UNRWA, and we will continue to defend its mandate until a just solution is achieved under Resolution 194.”

“We reject any tampering with the identity of the camps. Reconstruction and the return of the displaced are a national and moral priority.”

“An upcoming Arab meeting in Cairo will unify efforts to support UNRWA politically and financially.”

“We welcome partnerships with Palestinian, Arab, and international media in the battle for narrative and the right of return.”

Nasser Abu Bakr:

“Palestinian media is a crucial partner in defending our people's cause despite ongoing targeting.”

“Camps are not just places to live—they are political and national symbols that cannot be erased or silenced.”

“We need genuine partnership with the Refugee Affairs Department, based on information exchange and openness.”

🗯️ Journalists participating confirmed:

Their full readiness to enhance collaboration with the Refugee Affairs Department.

The necessity of building a strategic partnership to unify media efforts in facing challenges.

The importance of holding regular meetings and ongoing consultations to defend the refugee cause.

Preserving camp identity requires improving conditions and renewing media advocacy tools.
