Palestinian Ambassador to Egypt, Diab Al‑Louh, who is also a member of the PLO Executive Committee, received today (Wednesday) Dr. Ahmed Abu Holi, head of the PLO’s Refugee Affairs Department. They discussed recent developments and steps to enhance cooperation between the Palestinian Embassy in Cairo and the Refugee Affairs Department.
Both officials reviewed the situation of Palestinians residing in Egypt—including long-term Palestinian communities, those who arrived from Syria, and Gazans displaced by the ongoing genocide. Ambassador Al‑Louh praised the Refugee Affairs Department’s continuous support under the directives of President Mahmoud Abbas, highlighting their dedicated efforts.
They also commended Egypt’s steadfast support for Palestinians during the genocide campaign, citing its role in preventing forced and voluntary displacement plans. They appreciated President Abdel Fattah El‑Sisi’s firm position supporting the establishment of a Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital—viewed as essential for regional peace and stability—and reaffirmed the importance of Egypt’s pivotal role in achieving Palestinian national reconciliation, protecting refugees, ending the forced displacement campaign, reopening crossings, aiding Gaza’s population, and halting Israeli military assaults on the West Bank and Jerusalem by occupation forces and settler militias.
Ambassador Al‑Louh and Dr. Abu Holi emphasized that the Palestinian leadership is keenly focused on refugee affairs wherever they live—particularly in host countries like Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon. They stressed the vital importance of maintaining UNRWA’s operations, firmly upholding its mandate under UN Resolution 302, and ensuring urgent financial support to enable its essential health and education services.
This meeting occurred during Dr. Ahmad Abu Holi’s visit to Egypt, where he is representing Palestine at the 113th Conference of Supervisors for Palestinian Refugees in Host Arab Countries. The conference is being held at the Arab League Secretariat in Cairo from July 20 to 24, 2025.
