Dr. Ahmed Abu Holi, member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and head of the Department of Refugee Affairs, received Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi today during a field visit to Jalazone Camp. The visit aimed to review the achievements of projects funded by the Japanese grant implemented in the camp, financed by the Japanese government, as part of efforts to support the resilience of Palestinian refugees and improve the level of services provided to them.

The visit sought to observe firsthand the camp improvement projects and to understand their direct impact on strengthening the resilience of refugees and enhancing basic services, particularly in social and humanitarian aspects, thereby contributing to better living conditions within the camp.

During the visit, Dr. Abu Holi emphasized the importance of the Palestinian–Japanese partnership in supporting the issues of Palestinian refugees, praising the role of the Japanese government in financing developmental and service projects that help strengthen the resilience of refugees and alleviate the economic and social challenges facing the camps under current circumstances.

Dr. Abu Holi stated that the Japanese grant projects in Jalazone Camp constitute a practical model of sustainable developmental interventions in Palestinian camps. He confirmed that these projects are not limited to improving infrastructure and services but directly contribute to empowering refugees and enhancing their resilience, especially for the most marginalized groups, including persons with disabilities.

He added that the Department of Refugee Affairs highly values this support and seeks to expand the scope of cooperation with the Japanese government in ways that serve the humanitarian and developmental needs of Palestinian refugees while preserving their dignity and rights.

The visit took place at the Karama Center for Persons with Disabilities in Jalazone Camp, where the Japanese delegation observed the nature of the services provided and received a detailed briefing on the implemented projects and their positive impact on the beneficiary groups within the camp.

This visit comes within the ongoing efforts of the Department of Refugee Affairs to strengthen international support for the Palestinian refugee cause and develop camp improvement projects in line with their humanitarian and developmental needs, thereby enhancing the resilience of their residents.
