Dr. Ahmed Abu Holi, Member of the Executive Committee of the and Head of its Department of Refugee Affairs, welcomed the transfer of the second financial installment by the to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), amounting to USD 10 million. He stressed that this support comes at a critical moment, as the Agency faces unprecedented financial challenges that threaten its ability to continue carrying out its mandate.

Abu Holi praised the continued efforts of in supporting Palestinian refugees, commending the humanitarian and developmental role undertaken by the Qatar Fund for Development, which directly contributes to ensuring the continuity of essential and emergency services provided by UNRWA in the fields of education, healthcare, and social relief.

He affirmed that this contribution reflects Qatar’s firm commitment to supporting the rights of the Palestinian people, strengthening the resilience of refugees, and preserving UNRWA’s mandate as an international responsibility that must neither be undermined nor compromised.

Abu Holi emphasized that continued international support for UNRWA has become an urgent necessity to prevent the interruption of its life-saving services to millions of Palestinian refugees. He called on the international community to assume its political and humanitarian responsibilities toward Palestinian refugees and to protect UNRWA’s mandate and the authority granted to it under Resolution 302.

He further stressed that funding UNRWA constitutes a political, legal, and moral commitment to safeguarding the Agency’s international mandate and upholding the principles of the multilateral international system, noting that support for UNRWA represents a key factor of regional stability.

He reiterated that UNRWA remains an indispensable pillar within the international protection system for Palestinian refugees, and that its role is irreplaceable across its five fields of operation until a just and lasting political solution to the Palestinian refugee issue is reached in accordance with Resolution 194. He explained that UNRWA forms the backbone of humanitarian safety nets and a lifeline for millions of Palestinian refugees.

Finally, Abu Holi called on donor countries to continue supporting UNRWA and strengthening its financial resources in order to ensure the continuity of its services and the protection of its mandate without diminution or politicization.
