Dr. Ahmad Abu Holi, Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and Head of the Department of Refugee Affairs, affirmed the historic and pivotal role of the Arab Republic of Egypt—its President, government, and people—in supporting the Palestinian cause as the foremost central cause of the Arab nation.

His remarks came during a farewell and appreciation meeting held by Dr. Abu Holi at the Egyptian Embassy in the city of Ramallah to honor the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the State of Palestine, Ihab Suleiman, on the occasion of the conclusion of his official duties as Egypt’s Ambassador to the State of Palestine, in recognition of his sincere diplomatic efforts in support of Palestinian rights.

During the meeting, Dr. Abu Holi praised Egypt’s courageous positions under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and its decisive role in thwarting the plot to displace the Palestinian people, as well as its efforts in confronting all Israeli plans aimed at the forced displacement of our people in the Gaza Strip. He stressed that Egypt’s steadfast position has been the cornerstone in protecting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and in thwarting schemes to liquidate the Palestinian cause.

Dr. Abu Holi also underscored the deep-rooted historical and fraternal ties between the Palestinian and Egyptian peoples and leaderships. He commended Egypt’s pioneering role in championing the Palestinian cause and its firm and unwavering positions, which consistently affirm that stability in the Middle East and the achievement of a just and comprehensive peace remain contingent upon ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state.

For his part, Ambassador Ihab Suleiman expressed his sincere appreciation for the visit and the gesture of recognition, affirming that the Arab Republic of Egypt will continue to stand by its Palestinian brothers until they attain their legitimate rights to return, self-determination, and the establishment of a fully sovereign independent state with occupied East Jerusalem as its capital.

Ambassador Suleiman further stressed that Egypt will never abandon its support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and will remain a strong bulwark against all plans and conspiracies aimed at undermining the two-state solution or liquidating the Palestinian cause.

The farewell and appreciation meeting was also attended by Mohammad Alyan, Director General of Camps at the Department of Refugee Affairs.
